Job Description:
System One is actively recruiting for an Electrical Engineer for
a permanent position located in Bayou La Batre, Alabama. Electrical
Engineer Requirements: Design and specify shipboard electrical
systems including power distribution, lighting, communications,
automation, navigation, and propulsion support systems. Develop and
review technical drawings, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, load
analyses, and one-line diagrams. Ensure all designs comply with
applicable codes and regulations (e.g., ABS, DNV, USCG, IEEE, NEC).
Coordinate with naval architects, mechanical engineers, and
production teams during all phases of construction. Support
procurement by specifying electrical equipment and reviewing vendor
documentation. Oversee system installation, troubleshoot issues
during construction, and support testing and commissioning
activities. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, change
orders, and engineering reports. Interface with clients,
classification societies, and regulatory inspectors during
inspections and certifications. Electrical Engineer Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. 5
years of relevant experience in marine, industrial, or shipyard
environments preferred. Proficiency with AutoCAD, or similar CAD
tools. Strong understanding of electrical systems design, power
distribution, and control systems. Familiarity with shipbuilding
processes and standards. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office
tools including Excel, Word and Outlook. Skills & Attributes:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent
communication and teamwork skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks
and priorities in a dynamic environment. Willingness to work in a
shipyard setting and occasionally board vessels under construction.
