Job Description:
The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center is seeking a full
time Gastroenterologist. The major duties of a Physician -
Inpatient Psychiatrist include but are not limited to: Psychiatrist
will focus on the assessment/evaluation and medication management
of veterans who suffer from a variety of mental health conditions,
including, but not limited to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder,
substance abuse, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, and
other related conditions. Writes prescriptions for medications,
including controlled medications which require a DEA number.
Initiates consultation by and referral to other services as
indicated. Educates staff hospital wide about psychiatric needs of
patients; how to handle; what to expect; etc. Works with families
of patients receiving psychiatric care. Experienced in performing
evaluation and providing treatment to clients in inpatient and
outpatient settings Experienced in working closely with colleagues
and multidisciplinary teams to provide state-of-the-art mental
health care including medication management, treatment planning and
other specialized services as needed Participates in after hours
call schedule as needed
