Job Description:
Job Summary: To assist nursing and therapy in the delivery of
patient mobility services. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of common medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
Takes initiative to complete work and meets productivity standards.
Customer service skills. Follow directions as communicated in a
variety of ways. Knowledge of Infection Control and Injury
Prevention theories and strategies Learns quickly and through
multiple channels. Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Basic math skills, such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and
dividing. Organizational skills. Responsibilities: Spends day on
assigned nursing unit Communicates with nursing prior to seeing
each patient, to obtain updated patient status. Transports patients
for hospital discharge and assists with vehicle transfers as
needed. Rounds {will triage rounding importance based on nursing
communication) Boost or reposition patient in bed Assist with BSC
transfers or walk to bathroom Mobilizes patients based on BMAT
level Gets patients up for meals and throughout the day Assist
patient to the chair and back to bed as appropriate Walks patient
in hall as appropriate Provides feedback to nursing on unidentified
fall precaution needs and skin integrity, LDA issues, patient
concerns, etc For patients with both therapy and mobility program
orders, mobility tech communicates with OT/PT to determine any
specific mobility needs. Develop as a resource for patient
mobility, serving as a mentor to floor staff in environmental set
up, the use of devices, mobility techniques and body mechanics to
safely promote the highest level of patient mobility. Assists
nursing, as requested, for patients with in-bed positioning needs.
Builds a trusting relationship with the patient. Provide dear and
effective patient communication about the importance of mobility,
vertical positioning, falls risks and out of bed activity as
appropriate Increases patient morale and patient satisfaction
through daily encouragement and increased autonomy Documents each
session in EPIC The duties listed are general in nature and are

and Physical Demands: Requires occasional exposure to bio-hazardous
conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne
pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic
chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations,
occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled
hours, occasional traveling to off site locations, occasional
activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/
clinical nature, frequent bending, occasional lifting and carrying
more than 100 pounds, occasional crawling, frequent
crouching/stooping, frequent kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling,
constant reaching, occasional sitting, constant standing, frequent
twisting, and constant walking. (occasional-up to 20%,
frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more) Requirements
Education and Experience Required: High school diploma/GED
Certifications, Licenses, or Registration: N/A Preferred
Qualifications: Work experience in a clinical setting
