Campus Jackson Job Title: Nursing Shift Supervisor- Children's
General Pediatric Unit - 4C Job Summary: To supervise the staff and
operations of nursing care for assigned areas or units. To schedule
and ensure appropriate staffing. To ensure that supplies and
equipment are available. To work with the nurse managers and
clinical directors to resolve any issues pertaining to the assigned
area or unit. To educate and consult patients and families
regarding their concerns. To perform job duties in accordance with
the medical center's purpose. Education & Experience Licensed as RN
for two (2) years. Two years of RN experience in specified area
preferred. BSN preferred. Certifications, Licenses or Registration
Required: Valid RN license. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge
of nursing procedures. Verbal and written communication skills.
Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients,
physicians, and registered nurses. Knowledge and understanding of
computer systems, tools, and programs. Supervisory skills.
Possesses current competencies in nursing clinical practice.
Responsibilities Directs the daily operation of assigned areas or
units, including but not limited to adherence to nursing standards
of practice and administrative initiatives. Manages and organizes
the nursing schedule for the assigned areas or units in accordance
with approved productivity standards. Assists with training and
mentoring new personnel. Supervises nursing staff on assigned
units. Contributes to or performs evaluations of nursing staff.
Serves on at least one nursing council, hospital or medical center
committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or
work area. Demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer

Environmental Demands Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or

borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or
caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations,

seasonal/clinical nature, frequent work produced subject to precise
measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional
lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, occasional climbing,

driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling,
occasional reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing,
