Job Description:
Description Job Summary: Under general supervision of the
Assistant Director of Materials Management, uses the process of
materials management to perform the functions of assistant
purchasing agent. Will provide maintenance and control of all
supplies to ensure inventories for adequate patient care as well as
efficient and economical hospital operations. Will maintain daily
back-order reports, new item entries and all other task assigned by
management. Requires knowledge of purchasing techniques, inventory
management, supply management, shipping and receiving procedures
and basic ethics. At all times, work assignments will be determined
by adjustment of workload and priority projects such as inventory.
The assistant purchasing agent will be assigned up to 40hrs per
week, with occasional weekend work possible. The assistant
purchasing agent is expected to function within the scope of
approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department
and organization. Must be able to work and relate in a
professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians,
administration, patients, and visitors.
