Team Leader - Assembly 1st Shift
Under the guidelines established by the Manager - Production
Planning; supervises, directs
and coordinates all material handling activities in the stockroom
and machine shop, including
the shipping and receiving functions. Controls the movement of
product throughout the plant into various rack, bin, and floor
1.Directly supervises and assigns work to approximately 21 1st and
2nd shift hourly
2.Responsible for stores record accuracy.
3.Supervises all pre-picking activity and common parts
replenishment for the Assembly
and Machining area.
4.Decides and schedules overtime.
5.Addresses all departmental problems that arise on a daily
6.Evaluates performance of subordinates and recommends rate
increases and disciplinary
actions as required. Develops them to the highest level of their
abilities and creates
succession / staffing plan.
7.Enforces all company rules and policies of which the most
frequent are Respectful
8.Workplace, safety, personnel and housekeeping.
9.Works with outside vendors that support material handling
purchasing requisitions and approves invoices as required for
10.Audits all job descriptions, job elements and procedures.
Instructs and / or supervises
the training of the work force and checks individual employee
output for both quantity
and quality of work.
11.Initiates corrective procedures and improvements in processes /
methods to insure
efficient and proper location of materials and timely delivery to
12.Conducts safety meetings, audits and accident investigations to
assure that safety
results are maintained at an excellent level.
13.Prepares reports, works on special projects or performs other
duties as directed by
14.Ensure applicable product compliance requirements are upheld
including but not limited to the Clean Air Act, California Code of
Regulation and California Health and Safety Code.
Education and experience requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Two or more years' manufacturing experience preferred.
Experience in engine machining or related industrial machining
Demonstrated communication and leadership skills, with experience
in leading groups of
associates in a common work cell.
Demonstrated computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel,
Powerpoint, and Access required. Working knowledge of 5S, 6 Sigma,
Green Belt, Business Process Redesign.
