Under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer (COO), the Director of Clinical Services plans and organizes nursing services to ensure patient needs are met in accordance with organizations clinical policies, procedures, and services. Responsible for supervising the provision of quality nursing care at the clinic level, maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice; for coordinating nursing training programs; for recognizing and assisting in solving professional, and clinical problems in an assigned area. Position exercises considerable judgment in applying professional knowledge in solving nursing problems within established policies and practices and is reviewed by the CMO through conferences, reports and observation of results obtained.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists in establishing performance standards by studying and evaluating industry, government, and accreditation guidelines with Administration, nursing, and medical staff.
  • Effectively satisfies training and development needs by researching, designing or selecting training programs, introduces new trends in training and development in healthcare
  • Interprets and enforces department and corporate policies.
  • Interviews and makes recommendations for filling vacant nursing/clinical positions.
  • Maintains professional, technical, and instructional knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies
  • Works with Director of Operations or designee to determine the optimal allocation of staff for each clinic.
  • Communicates scheduling concerns by clinic to appropriate staff (via e-mails, voice mail, etc.).
  • Serves as the Director for the smooth function of all clinical areas. Notifies CMO of urgent concerns. When the concern is non-urgent, notifies manager by phone message or e-mail.
  • Receives employee and patients' grievances. Refers information to appropriate Nurse Manager/Team Leader.
  • Assists RNs in completing risk assessments and investigations of injury.
  • Responsible for coordinating training and orientation of nursing staff to include proper documentation in EHR, quality assurance and staff development duties, as assigned. Notifies Nurse Manager/Team Leader of identified learning needs.
  • Works with appropriate staff to complete evaluations and attendance counseling for nursing staff.
  • Assists with annual budget preparation by identifying supply and equipment needs.
  • Orders or directs ordering of drugs and equipment.
  • Maintains proficiency with computer scheduling system.
  • Completes referral forms for any inquiries and forwards them to appropriate personnel.
  • Meets routinely with the Nurse Manager/Team leader and nursing staff.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of the training manual and nursing policies and procedures.
  • Serves and/or leads committees, as assigned, including, but not limited to Patient Care, Safety, Ethics, Med Management,
  • Willingly assists in the development and implementation of community and patient education programs
  • Assists and reinforces the training of nursing staff on computer recall system.
  • Prepares and presents all data effectively and in a timely manner to Administration; collects and presents information externally as requested by the Operations Officer or Medical Officer.
  • Verify timecard at the end of each pay period
  • Manage and verify Nurse Manager timecards
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance.
  • Performs related work, as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of a college of nursing or diploma program
  • Minimum of three to four (3-4) years Registered Nurse experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in management
  • Excellent computer skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access
  • Understand the VFC, EPSDT & BCC programs
  • Familiarity with UDS, PCMH, Meaningful Use and how that affects patient care & documentation
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association
  • Ability to communicate in English and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational and planning skills to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and take initiative
  • Detail-oriented
  • Works independently with little direct supervision
  • Interacts with difficult individuals while maintaining composure
  • Able to work cooperatively as a member of a team
  • Able to work under stress in a fast-paced environment

Physical and Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen and physical assessment.
  • Must be willing to do local and out-of-state travel.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 lbs. routinely.
