Job Description:

The role of the Associate Scientist in the FFREC team is to support technical fragrance initiatives in R&D in the areas of Fine Fragrance, Home Care, Skin Care, Make up and Hair Care. These initiatives include short and longer term initiatives projects that are across the ELC organization that lead to breakthrough innovation in Fragrance. The associate scientist will design and conduct research for developing proprietary technology that drives innovation as well as be a critical role to in supporting External Innovation programs. The Associate Scientist will be part of a larger team within the FFREC group that support Branded and Non-Branded initiatives.Decision Making (15%) - Responsible for daily laboratory organization and maintenance including setting up equipment and samples for scientist.Problem Solving (30%) - some problems the individual may be tasked with is ensuring the laboratory is organized and functional for the team to work most efficient.Independence of Action and Accountability (50%) - Ensure daily stability samples are coordinated and scheduling is kept on time to meet timelines.Budget Responsibility (5%) - Key person responsible for coordinating, aligning and ordering supplies and small equipment for the lab.QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree (B.S. or MS)
  • 0-2 years' experience within the cosmetic and/or fragrance and flavor industry
  • Experience working in a GxP or non-GxP laboratory environments setting up experiments, testing, and communicating results under standard operating procedures in accordance with ELC R&D Laboratory protocols.
  • Utilizing Design of Experimentation Approach (DOE) to drive continues understanding of the technology and contribute to the technical approach.
  • A Strong technical inquisition to learn and understand, specifically related to areas of Science focusing on Cosmetic Products
  • Familiar with Fragrance and/or flavor analytical techniques and equipment (GC/GC-O/LC) used to test technology and support new claims.
  • Familiar with basic cosmetic formulation techniques and technologies, experience of formulation is a plus.
  • Product Sensory Evaluation experience is a plus
  • Work across the organization and be part of dynamic cross functional technical team that drives strategic fragrance innovation initiativesThe anticipated base salary range for this position is $59,500 to $89,000. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location.
